Public Health Department
Jefferson County Health Department is dedicated to the
promotion of individual, community and environmental health through prevention
programs and activities.
Our mission is to promote good health practices, keep the
environment clean, healthy, and safe, and to help people enjoy good health and
use resources effectively. Jefferson County Health Department and community
partners completed a Community Health Assessment (CHA) in August 2019. This
county-wide health assessment looked at our community health challenges,
disparities, and assets.
The CHA was followed with the Jefferson County Community
Health Improvement Plan, a collaborative, systematic, multi-year effort to
improve the health and well-being of Jefferson County residents. This CHIP is
the next step in the process of guiding the collaborative priorities and work
of the JCHD and community partners in their efforts to protect and promote
health among county residents, based upon the vision statement: “An empowered,
unified, and healthy Jefferson County.”
