If the election is NOT conducted by mail-ballot only active absentee voters will receive a ballot in the mail.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) Do I have to return my ballot in the mail?<\/p><p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) No. Absentee and mail ballots can be dropped off at the Jefferson County Elections office or can be dropped off at a polling place on election day.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) How do I know if my ballot has been accepted?<\/p><p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) For federal and statewide elections, you can track your ballot status using the My Voter Page at https:\/\/app.mt.gov\/voterinfo, from \u201cSent\u201d to \u201cProcessed\u201d to \u201cAccepted\u201d. In all other elections, you may contact the Elections Department.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) How do you verify my signature?<\/p><p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) All signed forms received at the elections office are scanned into the elector\u2019s record, giving multiple exhibits for each voter\u2019s signature.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) When is my ballot due by?<\/p><p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) Ballots must be in our possession\u2014either in the office or at a polling place\u2014by 8 PM on Election Day.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) What if my signature does not match?<\/p><p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) If our office is unable to process a ballot, we are obligated to inform the voter to rectify the problem in the most expedient method available (13-13-245, MCA). This is normally conducted via phone call.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) What do I use to mark my ballot?<\/p><p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) Use blue or black ink, as red is not readable by the tabulators. Do not use a felt-tipped pen, as it will bleed through the ballot and not be readable by the tabulators.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) Can mail\/absentee ballots be forwarded?<\/p><p>(A) No. Due to postal regulations, ballots are neither forwarded nor held. These ballots are immediately returned to the Elections Department and a forwardable notice is sent to the voter notifying them that their ballot is undeliverable as addressed.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>(Q) How do I cancel my voter registration?<\/p><p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); color: var(--ast-global-color-7);\">(A) Submit a written request for cancellation that includes your name, date of birth, and the residential address where you were registered to vote in Jefferson County.
